Shellye Moon, LCSW-S

Shellye Simpson Moon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-S) and Board Approved Supervisor, with more than 20 years of experience working with children, tweens/teens, adults, and families in various settings including child welfare, foster care and adoptions, hospital, maternity home, residential treatment, schools, group practice, and private practice.

She offers a fresh perspective and a safe space for inner exploration, growth, and healing to occur. Her presence is calming and nurturing, aiming to understand, validate, and promote self-awareness and self-acceptance. Shellye is very passionate about listening to others and their story (whether it be with words or play), helping them to find their voice and making sure they know that they are heard and valued. She recognizes the complexity of each problem and helps make growth and healing a more comfortable process by being attentive to each person’s unique situation and needs. She uses an evidence-based, relationship-rich, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and family systems-oriented approach.

Shellye earned both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Science in Social Work from the
University of Texas at Austin. Her specialties include trauma related effects, attachment, anxiety,
depression, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, and stress management. Shellye utilizes an eclectic approach to providing therapy, pulling from training and experience in various modalities, including Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Theraplay (Level 1), Child-Centered Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT).

She will work with you to make sense of your life experiences and the connections between current feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. She has a lot of knowledge and a deep understanding of interpersonal neurobiology and how human development and functioning are a product of the relationship between the mind, body, and relationships with others—AND she loves to share that knowledge in a way that is easy to understand and apply to everyday life. Shellye will meet you where you are at and join you in your journey, and she will work with you to explore tools and strategies to help you manage better in your day to day.

Outside of work, Shellye loves spending time with family and friends, attending concerts, watching her precious son coach baseball, attending/watching Longhorn sports events, and hanging out with her wonderful dogs.
